i too saw "I am Legend". truly a film of two halves. the night scenes were tense and well directed, but the truly appaling CGI of the vampires really let it down. Will Smith was his usual 'okay' but couldn't any a-list actor have pulled that off? disappointed.

i can't remember all the films i have seen this year, so i will just add my comments to your list:

American Gangster - 9, excellent film, just missing out on greatness
The Bourne Ultimatum - 7, the best of the 3, but none really did it for me.
Zodiac - 8, lovely film. i love Fincher.
28 Weeks Later - 6, not a patch on the first one
The Illusionist - 8. brilliant
Live Free or Die Hard - 4 shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - 8, last 10 mins let it down badly. Hoffmann wonderful
Ocean's Thirteen - 7 not bad at all
The Simpsons Movie - 7.5. much better than i thought
Transformers - 2, appalling, loud and brash
i've also seen, as far as i remember:
4:10 to Juma - 6. too long and pretentious
The Assassination of Jesse James - see above
Fracture - 7. much better than you'd think
Borat - 9. utterly hilarious. so what if it's low-brow

Happy New Year!

I have been collecting Acoustic Alchemy's cds since the early days when Nick Webb was still with us. Who new Graham.. you're a smooth jazz fan? Another Englishman playing the acoustic guitar in the US that I love, love, love is Peter White. All of his cds are spectacular as well, and I catch him at any Jazz festival or concerts playing in the North East.

thanks dave, although there have been the occasional flashback and slow-motion replays i've never once doubted that i'd get back on the horse and ride again. i just don't know how long it will take, but i'm definitely on the mend and dreaming of a new machine...

Nice X-rays and scans. I'll show them to my daughter when she is home at the weekend.
Another two months off? You'll be going stir crazy. Half term sounds a better bet.
All the best,
Derek
